CORRALES Correspondent PRESIDENT Duterte’s children took turns in threatening a broadcast executive on social media over his comments resulting from the guerrilla attacks on Lapanday Foods Corp. in Davao last Saturday. Davao Mayor Sara Duterte-Carpio and Vice Mayor Paolo Duterte ganged up on Davao-based Radyo ni Juan Network general manager Mario Maximo “Dodong” Solis in their respective social media accounts. Mayor Duterte-Carpio took offense in Solis’s Facebook post that called for sobriety and sensitivity in the handling of the news of the death of the lone civilian casualty in the aftermath of the attacks of the New People’s Army on three Lapanday facilities in Davao last Saturday. “Unta hunongon na ang paggamit kang Larry (Buenafe) para sa propaganda tungod kay sakit para sa pamilya ug sa mga nabilin ni Larry nga nawala na (siya) gamiton pa aron ilihis ang isyu nga abogado sa Lapanday ang bana sa mayor ug bayaw sa vice mayor sa Davao,” reads Solis’s post. The mayor reacted on her Instagram account, posting a screen capture of Solis’s post, and then warning him not to include her husband (Mans Carpio) in the discussion on the Lapanday attacks. “I am fair game but do not touch my husband. Open your mouth again about my husband and I will tell your wife and your entire family about your secrets,” reads Duterte-Carpio’s Instagram post. At press time, Duterte-Carpio’s post elicited some 2,500 reactions and 40 shares. She said the fact that her husband is Lapanday’s lawyer should not stop her from condemning the acts of the NPA or offer her sympathies to the Buenafe family as the mayor of Davao. Twelve hours after Duterte-Carpio’s post, her brother Paolo openly threatened Solis on Facebook. “Ayaw ko unahi kay ug imo hilabtan akong pamilya di ko mag duha-duha ug bukbok nimo. Kanang imong gipasigarbong freedom of the press, dili kana lisensya aron imong pakauwawan among pamilya,” Vice Mayor Duterte’s post reads in part. He said his family was not using the death of Buenafe for propaganda. “Namatay si Larry tungod sa IED (improvised explosive device) na gipabuto sa mga rebelde na imong mga idol ug dili tungod abugado sa Lapanday ang akong bayaw na si Mans.” The Instagram and Facebook posts of the Dutertes have been gathering “likes” with many of their followers taunting and threatening Solis. Solis is also the chief operating officer of the RMC Broadcasting Corp. that handles all Radyo ni Juan stations across Mindanao. It has two flagship AM and FM stations in Davao City.
