EITHER they are lousy parliamentarians or just plain dishonest. What is clear is that these minority members of the City Council displayed sheer incompetence.
When they failed to defend their legislative advocacies at the floor of the City Council, these minority city councilors took to their favorite radio station, commentator, a bogeyman to score some brownie points against Mayor Oca Moreno and Vice Mayor Kikang Uy.
Such is the case when the executive department presented their report to the City Council on the successful distribution of Covid-19 cash assistance to the intended beneficiaries. The motley duo was given enough time to question, raise all issues they thought important in the distribution of cash ayuda. A former barangay captain, a lawyer, these two are not nincompoops, only that they do not have compelling arguments based on facts in their script that the cash assistance distribution was irregular. Their narrative is so lame, it cannot stand simple deliberation.
And then, they went to their bogeyman in the air to continue selling their false narrative, in a medium where there is no deliberation, only ranting, shouting, and pointing an accusing finger.
They have also done this to belittle the Covid-19 response of the city government. Something, the Galing Pook Award for the city’s best practices in public health service – the centerpiece of which is the city government’s Covid-19 response, rebutted.
Maybe they can fool some people sometimes, definitely, as Abby Lincoln taught, this duo got a dose of their own medicine when evidence came out that they voted YES for a certain ordinance and said NO outside of the august halls of the local government.
Citing records, Councilor Zaldy Ocon scored the two city councilors for their duplicity.
Ocon was quoted as saying:
“In fairness to the Mayor and the City Council, and as a member of the Committee on Environment, I know Councilor Bebot Rodriguez and Lourdan Suan voted YES for the 1 billion loan ordinance, which the redevelopment of the Bolonsiri Cemetery is part (sic). Ambot ngano gapataka sila sa Mayor ug sa Konseho nga wala man sila mag against.”
These two epitomize the local opposition’s character of sowing falsity. They made themselves the subject of their fake news.
Pastilan ninyo!
