CAGAYAN DE ORO CITY — If you're planning to drive between Misamis Occidental and Lanao del Norte, your trip across Panguil Bay now takes only about seven minutes instead of the one to three hours previously spent on RoRo ferries and longer land routes.

The 3.17-kilometer Panguil Bay Bridge provides the fastest land connection between Northern Mindanao and the Zamboanga Peninsula, making it easier for motorists traveling to Araw ng Lanao, weekend destinations, or business appointments.

For travelers coming from Ozamiz City, the easiest route is through Tangub City before entering the bridge.

Those traveling from Iligan City and other parts of Lanao del Norte can take the national highway to Tubod, which leads directly to the bridge.

Google Maps and Waze already recognize the route, making navigation straightforward even for first-time users.

With the time saved, motorists can include side trips in their itinerary.

On the Misamis Occidental side, visitors can explore the Ozamiz City Cotta, Hoyohoy Highland Stone Chapel Adventure Park, and the Christmas Symbols Festival grounds in Tangub City.

On the Lanao del Norte side, travelers can continue to Iligan City to visit Maria Cristina Falls, Tinago Falls, Mimbalot Falls, and other attractions.

Before hitting the road, motorists are advised to inspect their vehicles, check weather and traffic conditions, and ensure they have enough fuel for the trip.

Bringing cash for meals, fuel, and any future toll collection is also recommended.

First-time users may find it easier to cross during daylight hours, while all motorists are reminded to observe speed limits and traffic signs for a safe journey.

For travelers, the biggest benefit is time.

Instead of planning around ferry schedules or long detours, the Panguil Bay Bridge allows more time to reach destinations, visit nearby attractions, and spend less time on the road.
