By BEN SERRANO Correspondent BUTUAN City––Authorities arrested a New People’s Army (NPA) platoon leader, and accused him of involvement in criminal activities in Surigao del Sur and Agusan del Sur. Officials identified the suspect as Randy Dapidran Subla, 30, of Tagbayangbang, Barangay Bunawan Brook, Bunawan in Agusan del Sur. He was arrested in Purok 6, Lagnasan, Barangay San Teodoro, Bunawan, Agusan del Sur at around 5:25 pm of Thursday by the police and soldiers from the Army’s 75th Infantry Battalion. Police said Subla had two arrest warrants, one for arson, issued by Judge Merlyn Pacaro-Cañedo of Bislig City and Judge Edwin Malazarte of Lianga, Surigao del Sur. Bailbonds were placed at P500 thousand and P120 thousand, respectively. The Agusan del Sur police said Subla is a platoon leader of the NPA’s Guerrilla Front 14. The suspect is now detained at the Bunawan Municipal Police Office.
