AUTHORITIES had filed robbery charges before City Prosector’s Office in Gingoog City against a female suspect a day after she was arrested last Thursday afternoon inside the grocery store near the public market in Barangay 21.
Police Col. Gonzalo C. Villamor, Misamis Oriental provincial director, confirmed in a press statement.
The suspect identified as a certain Emily Abulag, 33, single, and a resident of Purok Kamungay, Barangay Maon, Butuan City.
She was also charged with the violation of Republic Act 9165 known as the Comprehensive Dangerous Act of 2002, Villamor said.
According to Villamor, the victim was surprised when her shoulder bag was opened when she was in the cashier area, her red wallet was missing with cash amounting to more than P10,000.
Upon knowing of the incident, the store management immediately reviewed the CCTV footage. It was shown that the suspect opened the shoulder bag of the victim, said Franklin Yamsonm the store’s security guard.
The suspect left the grocery store after taking the victim’s wallet, Yamson said
And the store employee Gary Salisi and his colleague searched for the female suspect, until it was found at another grocery store of this city, an estimated 250 meters distance away from the said commercial center here as the team of police arrived;
The suspect was brought back to the grocery store where she committed the crime and then brought to Police Station, in this city.
As protocol, a thorough body search was conducted on the suspect before admitted to the facility by Patrolwoman Glaremie Bacan, Villamor said.
Bacan found one elongated heat-sealed transparent cellophane containing substance suspected to be shabu and one one-piece black purse, Villamor added
The suspect is detained at Gingoog City Police Office and a case of robbery has been filed against the suspect with case no. X-07-INQ-22I-000108 and violation of R.A. 9165 with case no. IS# X-07-INQ-22I-000109.
The suspect admitted and pointed to the location of the red wallet owned by the victim, said Villamor.
