ILIGAN CITY — A police officer’s quick response helped ensure the safe delivery of a baby boy at the Integrated Bus and Jeepney Terminal (IBJT) East in Barangay Hinaplanon on Wednesday morning, April 29.
At around 9:05 a.m., Police Chief Master Sergeant Marc T. Claro and Police Corporal Grace E. Bautista of Iligan City Police Station 1 responded to a report of a woman in active labor inside the terminal’s female comfort room.
When they arrived, the mother was already in the final stage of childbirth.
With calm and quick action, PCpl Bautista assisted in the emergency delivery and safely received the newborn, helping prevent possible complications for both mother and child.
Responders from the City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office arrived shortly after to provide additional medical support.

The mother and her baby were then brought to Gregorio T. Lluch Memorial Hospital and safely arrived at around 9:22 a.m.
Police said the swift and coordinated response of the officers and emergency responders helped ensure a safe outcome during the unexpected situation.
The incident also highlighted the role of police officers in responding not only to peace and order concerns but also to life-threatening emergencies where immediate action can save lives.
Authorities said the successful delivery reflects the commitment of Iligan City Police Station 1 personnel to serve and protect the community, even in critical moments beyond regular police duties.
