THE Commission on Elections (Comelec) Region 10 yesterday, May 7, began distributing Automated Counting Machines (ACMs) for sealing and testing in preparation for the May 12 election.
Lawyer Ramil Acol, Comelec Officer for the Second District, confirmed that over 249 ACMs were distributed across 33 barangays in the region.
Voting centers will also be set up in malls such as Ayala, SM Downtown Premiere, Limketkai Center, and Robinsons Mall.
In the First District, Atty. Joel Dexter Nagtalon visited Cluster 99 at West City Central School, where a damaged ballot box was reported. The box, which had a crack, was advised to be taped or replaced.
During the Media Safety and Security Training on May 6, Nagtalon revealed that there are 3,179,252 registered voters in Region 10, with 1,588,859 women and 1,509,387 men.
The regional breakdown includes Bukidnon with 995,376 voters, Lanao del Norte with 573,261, Misamis Occidental with 437,431, Camiguin with 66,557, and Misamis Oriental with 1,106,297 voters, including more than 400,000 from Cagayan de Oro's 1st and 2nd Districts.
Nagtalon also announced that senior citizens, pregnant women, and persons with disabilities will be allowed to vote from 5 am to 7 am and can bring one assistant, who must also be a registered voter. Regular voting hours will run from 7 am to 7 pm, but if vulnerable voters miss the early time slot, they can still vote during regular hours.
