CAGAYAN de Oro City Mayor Rolando Uy suspended face-to-face classes Monday afternoon as Tropical Depression Verbena brought continuous rain to the city.
Uy issued Executive Order No. 0446-2025A, halting classes from day care through secondary levels effective 1 pm, Nov. 24.
The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) placed the eastern portion of Misamis Oriental under Tropical Cyclone Wind Signal No. 1 in its 11 am advisory.
The warning covers Gingoog City and the municipalities of Magsaysay, Medina, Talisayan, Balingoan, Kinoguitan, Binuangan, Sugbongcogon, Salay, Lagonglong, Balingasag, Claveria, and Jasaan.
In its 24-hour rainfall forecast, the state weather bureau noted that Verbena would bring moderate to heavy rains, with approximately 50 to 100 millimeters of precipitation expected over Misamis Oriental and Bukidnon.
In nearby Camiguin, the Philippine Coast Guard station temporarily suspended the voyages of all vessels and watercraft within its area of responsibility.
“Vessels that intend to take shelter shall be permitted as long as it is manifested through a written request, and no passenger or cargo will be allowed on board,” the sea travel advisory reads.
Meanwhile, the City Information Office announced on social media that while most major highways remain passable, the Kauswagan Highway is currently obstructed.
