THE recent National PRISAA 2024 held in Legaspi City, Albay, saw a remarkable performance from the Region 10 Karatedo athletes.
Among the many standout performers, Rahnee Zelle Unas from Pilgrim Christian College emerged as the Best Player in the Karatedo Girl category.
The official results were submitted by men and women head coach Hipolito Majaducon, along with Assistant Coaches Rene Ricardo Donaire and Elizabeth C. Santos.
Unas, a talented 14-15 years old athlete, showcased her exceptional skills by winning two gold medals.
She clinched the gold in the -48kg weight category and also excelled in the Individual Kata event.
Additionally, Rahnee contributed to her team's success by securing a silver medal in the Team Kata Girl event. Her outstanding performance earned her the title of Best Player Junior.
"Unas is the only girl who wins gold back to back in the junior division," stated Karatedo Woman assistant coach Santos.
Charlize James C. Santos, also from Pilgrim Christian College, added to the region's medal tally by winning a gold medal in the 14-15 years old (-70kg) category and a silver in the Team Kata Boys event.
Niel Lloyd B. Sangrador, another young talent, secured gold in the 14-15 years old individual kumite (-57kg) category, silver in the individual Kata Boys Gold individual and silver team Kata.
Lleyton Andre Santos continued the winning streak for Pilgrim Christian College by bagging gold in the 16-17 years old (-76 kg) category.
Aaron Dave Lacaba, yet another promising athlete from the same school, won gold in the 14-15 years old (-52 kg) category.
Martino Laurence Jadap earned a silver medal in the 16-17 years old (-61 kg) category and another silver in the Team Kata Boys event.
Zharich Abragan showcased versatility by winning silver in Individual Kata, silver in Team Kata Girls, and bronze in the 16-17 years old (-53 kg) category.
Alexa Janelle P. Alfanta also made her mark with a bronze in the 16-17 years old (-48 kg) category and a silver in Team Kata Girls.
Kyle Linbininay from Liceo De Cagayan University secured a bronze in the 16-17 years old category, while Arvin Galaceo from the Philippine College Foundation earned a silver in the -60kg category.
Mark Anthony Tagud contributed to the team's success with a bronze in the Team Kata event.
Princess De Castro from Iligan Medical Center College performed well, winning bronze in Individual Kata and Team Kumite Senior.
Cyril Gerona also from Iligan Medical Center College secured two bronze medals, one in the -67kg category and another in Team Kata.
Iligan Medical Center College Michaela Tamala also shone brightly with a gold in the 12-13 years old (+47kg) category and a silver in Individual Kata.
Mokhlisa Magarang from the same school won gold in the 14-15 years old (-54kg) category.
Lara A. Collantes from Iligan Medical Center College earned a bronze in Team Kumite Senior, while Rhain Audrey C. Barrientos from Liceo De Cagayan University secured a silver in Kumite Girls 14-15(+54kg).
Jan-rey Monta from Pilgrim Christian College added to the medal tally with a bronze in the Senior Team Kata Men event.
Shania Charies Mae S. Jagape and Sonsy Jane P. Bahian from Liceo De Cagayan University won bronze in the Seniors Team Kumite Women event.
In total, Region 10 Karatedo athletes garnered 8 gold, 12 silver, and 12 bronze medals, bringing the region to 6th place in the overall medal tally ranking in the Nationsl PRISAA 2024 youth division.
The event held at Ayala Mall in Legaspi City from July 22-25, 2024, was a testament to the hard work and dedication of the athletes and their coaches.
Rahnee Zelle Unas’s remarkable performance and the collective efforts of the Region 10 team have truly made this year's National PRISAA a memorable one.
