GINGOOG City–– Vice Mayor Erick Cañosa yesterday announced he would challenge the reelection bid of Mayor Marie Guingona in an attempt to end her family’s 12-year political rule in this city in next year’s elections.
Cañosa, who is running under the Padayon Pilipino led by Misamis Oriental Gov. Yevgeny Vincente Emano in the province, said his decision was a result of consultative meetings with his supporters and family.
Cañosa said he and his running mate, provincial board member Jabi Bernaldez, would file their certificates of candidacy on Tuesday.
The Cañosa-Bernaldez ticket candidates for councilors are former vice mayor Marlon Kho, Maimai Mercado, Avelino Bernaldez, Ernest Chavez, Rey Mortiz, and former councilors Margarita Heini and Agnes Lee.
