TOURIST arrivals at the island-province of Camiguin have chalked a 37.17% increase from 2023 to 2024.
Camiguin Governor Xavier Jesus Romualdo announced during the launching of the ‘Isle Visit Camiguin 2026,’ yesterday, October 23.
According to their data, the island recorded over 210,369 visitors in 2023, increasing to 288,558 in 2024. Of the 2024 total, 18,577 were foreign visitors, while 269,981 were local tourists.
This week, Camiguin is celebrating its 46th Lanzones Festival where tourists, both local and foreigners, flocked to the island as there are a series of activities that the local government have prepared.
Romualdo said that by next year, they are encouraging more tourists to come to their shores, saying that they are projecting 420,000 tourists by 2026.
Camiguin’s collective efforts to preserve its natural beauty, strengthen local enterprises, and promote meaningful travel experiences have made it a top tourist destination, according to Gov. Xavier Jesus Romualdo.
Department of Tourism-10 Director May Ellaine Unchuan highlighted Mantigue Island as one of the most suitable diving spots in the region.
“It’s a must-see for every diver,” Unchuan said.
She added that the department is promoting not only scuba diving but also free diving and mermaiding, noting that Camiguin’s natural scenery provides an ideal backdrop for photography and makes every diver’s experience unforgettable.
By 2026, the province will host several major events, including the Ironman, Isle Dive Camiguin, and trekking adventures across Mount Hibok-Hibok and the island’s scenic trails.
“This is not just about attracting tourists — it’s about sustaining our economic momentum, creating more livelihoods for our people, and ensuring that tourism remains a strong driver for the province,” Romualdo said.
