WATER levels in the Cagayan River remain normal despite light rainfall upstream of the river as Super Typhoon Uwan approaches landmass, this city’s disaster management department said.
”We are closely monitoring (the) water levels. Gi-abisohan na pud nato ang mga barangays two days ago,” Nick Jabagat, head of the City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Department (CDRRMD), told Gold Star Daily over the phone, this morning.
The CDRRMD posted on its Facebook page that light rainfall was recorded in parts of Libona, Mampayag, Dahilayan, Lindaban, and Manolo Fortich in Bukidnon.

Light rain was also noted in some parts of Talakag and Baungon.
However, the department did note a rise in the water level in Iponan River, assuring residents that they are continually monitoring the water level.
The department urged flood-prone villages to “listen regularly for instructions to prepare and plan (for) what is necessary.”
The city is currently experiencing the effects of Typhoon Uwan, which packs maximum sustained winds of 140 kilometers per hour near its center.
Continuous thunder and rain are felt over the city.
The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical, and Astronomical Services (Pagasa) said in its most recent tropical cyclone bulletin that the center of the typhoon was estimated to be 680 kilometers east of Borongan City, Eastern Samar, as of this morning.
Uwan is forecast to make landfall over the southern portion of Isabela or the northern portion of Aurora on Sunday evening, Nov. 9.
”There is also an increasing possibility of a slight southward shift in the projected path of Uwan, which may result in a direct hit, such as an eyewall affecting the area without making landfall or a landfall scenario over Catanduanes,” Pagasa’s bulletin reads in part.
According to Pagasa, the typhoon is forecast to intensify rapidly.
”It may reach super typhoon category tonight or tomorrow, although the potential for a much faster intensification is not ruled out due to a favorable environment. It may also make landfall at or near its peak lifetime intensity,” Pagasa noted.
