CAGAYAN DE ORO CITY — Mayor Rolando ‘Klarex’ Uy issued an order suspending classes in all public schools from 1 p.m. today, November 3, through Tuesday, November 4, due to the threat of Severe Tropical Storm Tino.
Under Executive Order 0420-2025A, posted by the City Information Office at 9:48, this morning, Nov. 3, Uy ordered the suspension of face-to-face classes in private schools in the city.
The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical, and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) reported that as of 3 am today, the center of Severe Tropical Storm Tino was estimated 440 kilometers (about 273 miles) east of Guiuan, Eastern Samar.
The storm is packing maximum sustained winds of 110 kilometers per hour (kph) near the center and gustiness of up to 135 kph, moving west-southwest at 30 kph.
PAGASA forecasts moderate to heavy rains over the next 12 hours.
Furthermore, the weather bureau anticipates that the tropical cyclone will affect the city within 36 hours, bringing winds of up to 61 kph and intermittent rainfall.
Meanwhile, the weather bureau warned that heavy rains threaten vital watercourses. Specifically, the Tagoloan River and Iponan Creek are currently under close observation for potential overflowing.
Liga ng mga Barangay President Marlo L. Tabac used social media to urge coastal residents to stay alert. He advised them to prepare for the cyclone's effects.
