VOTERS at Bulua Central School began lining up early Monday morning, expressing hopes for a peaceful and honest election. Despite the intense heat and long queues, residents remained calm, patient, and orderly.
“Hopefully, there’s no trouble. We want a peaceful and fair election,” Luisa, a senior citizen, said.
Classrooms at the school were converted into polling centers, with volunteers, poll workers, and security personnel facilitating the voting process.
Police officers, firefighters, barangay tanods, and members of the Philippine Army were deployed around the area to maintain safety and order.
Bulua, one of the largest barangays in Cagayan de Oro, saw strong voter turnout. Many residents — including families and first-time voters — participated in the polls.
Election officials said the process has remained smooth and organized so far.
They reminded voters to follow safety protocols and observe rules to avoid delays.
“There’s a good chance the election will stay peaceful, but we’re prepared for any situation,” said Chief Tanod Arnelio J. Pabilona.
Lt. Col. Abdul Alim T. Sumandar reported no serious incidents, except for one voter who fainted on the third floor. The barangay health team responded quickly and provided immediate assistance.
The polling site has 16 voting centers and serves 6,970 registered voters. Voting is expected to continue into the late afternoon.
Authorities continue to urge voters to stay alert, follow safety protocols, and respect the process to help ensure a peaceful election.
