A JOINT team of Army and police units arrested today the alleged bomber of passenger buses that left four civilians killed in North Cotabato.

Army 6th Infantry Division spokesperson Lt. Col. John Paul Baldomar said alleged bomber Ali Akbar was arrested at Purok 3, Barangay East Patadon, Kidapawan City at around 5 am, today.

Baldomar said Akbar is an alleged bomb expert of the Dawlah Islamiya-Hassan group operation in Central Mindanao.

“Akbar is responsible for at least two bus attacks in North Cotabato,” Baldomar said.

Baldomar said Akbar was allegedly responsible for the bombing of a bus owned by Yellow Bus Line in Tulunan, North Cotabato on Jan. 27, 2021.

He said a fruit vendor selling beside the parked bus was killed while three other bystanders were injured.

Baldomar said Akbar was also allegedly responsible for the burning of another Yellow bus in M’lang, North Cotabato that left three passengers who were trapped inside killed on June 3, 2021.

Baldomar said Akbar was arrested on the strength of an arrest warrant issued by the Regional Trial Court for double murder and multiple frustrated murders.

He said two improvised explosive devices was allegedly seized from Akbar.
