THE Philippine Army’s 29th Infantry Battalion, in partnership with the Butuan City Local Government, concluded a three-day Youth Leadership Summit (YLS) on Friday, gathering 50 youth leaders from various barangays to strengthen community leadership, patriotism, and service.
The summit, held from October 25 to 27, forms part of the Philippine Army’s initiative to engage the youth in community leadership and nation-building.
The program included lectures, workshops, and team-building exercises, focusing on civic responsibility, peace advocacy, disaster readiness, and leadership skills, delivered by experts from the Army, local government, and partner organizations.
Lieutenant Col. Mark S. Tabon, Acting Commanding Officer of the 29th Infantry Battalion, expressed gratitude to the Butuan City Government and other partners for their support, highlighting the summit’s role in building resilient communities.
“We hope what you’ve learned here contributes to your future and benefits your communities,” he said.
Butuan City Mayor Ronnie Vicente C. Lagnada, represented by Local Government Operations Officer Lolita S. Go, encouraged participants to apply what they learned.
“It’s about acting on what you’ve planned to truly help your community,” she said.
Participants, like YLS graduate Manilyn, spoke highly of the summit’s impact, particularly its focus on guiding youth away from harmful ideologies and fostering a spirit of positive change in their communities.
