EXPECT at least 24 hours of blackouts to hit Cagayan de Oro for the nth time today until tomorrow.
The Cagayan Electric Power and Lights Co. (Cepalco) said the National Grid Corp. of the Philippines (NGCP) would be replacing voltage transformer capacitors at its Opol substation today.
This would cause an 11-hour power interruption, from 6 to 5 pm, affecting a large portion of the city, particularly along the vicinity of Abellanosa-Velez Sts. and its surrounding areas.
There would be a 30-minute power interruption from 8 am to 8:30 am and again, from 12:15 pm to 12:45 pm in major parts of Carmen, Balulang Patag, Kauswagan, Bonbon towards Bayabas.
Cepalco said it scheduled a 13.8-kv line revision work at Abellanosa-Velez Sts. to make use of the time.
Tomorrow, Cepalco has scheduled a line conductor stringing of its 69-kv Tablon-Puntod line project along Gabucayan Extention up to Agora, Lapasan. This would result in a 12-hour blackout, from 6 am to 6 pm, in major parts of Barangay Lapasan.
Cepalco said the power supply would be restored without notice if line works are done earlier.
