CARMEN, Agusan del Norte – The Provincial Government of Agusan del Norte hosted a festive Christmas party for over 500 former rebels, now called Friends Rescued (FRs), and their families on December 2 at Bolihon Beach in Carmen.
The event highlighted the government’s commitment to reconciliation and reintegration, offering hope and a brighter future for individuals who have chosen peace.
The celebration featured the awarding of Enhanced Comprehensive Local Integration Program benefits, gift-giving from the Department of Health, and games, fostering a festive atmosphere filled with joy and camaraderie.
“Grabe kaayo kalingaw ang party kay kauban namo among pamilya sa pagsaulog niini. Grabe kabuotan ug daghang salamat kaayo kang Governor Angel Amante kay wala gyud syay puas sa pagsuporta sa among mga FR,” said FR Rodelyn Mandag.
Governor Maria Angelica Rosedell M. Amante emphasized the role of community support in fostering peace and development.
“Let us plant in our hearts that our future lies in our own hands. There are no divisions anymore. Let us forget the past and focus on building a better today and tomorrow,” she said.
Lieutenant Colonel Mark S. Tabon, acting commanding officer of the 29th Infantry Battalion, echoed these sentiments.
“I am overjoyed to see all the FRs in Agusan del Norte celebrating Christmas with their families. I hope we continue working together so more FRs can experience this joy with their loved ones,” he said.
