By LITO RULONA Correspondent FIVE religious leaders and seven heads of academic institutions in the city are among the long list of people invited by the city council’s committee on games and amusement to a meeting on the proposed casino in the city this afternoon. The religious leaders invited to the city council this afternoon are Roman Catholic Archbishop Antonio Ledesma, Diocesan Bishop Felixberto Calang of the Iglesia Filipina Independiente, Iglesia ni Cristo Minister Russel Sanchez, United Church of Christ in the Philippines Senior Pastor Rev. Ricardo Yañez Jr., Bishop Bong Udang of Blessed Hope Fellowship. The committee also sent out invitation letters to Xavier University president Fr. Roberto Yap, Lourdes College president Sr. Ma. Rachel Bernardo, Liceo de Cagayan University president Mariano Lerin, Capitol University president Casimiro Juarez Jr., Cagayan de Oro College-Phinma president Chito Salazar, University of Science and Technology of Southern Philippines president Ricardo Rotoras, and Southern Philippines College chief executive officer Pam Hao. Councilor Zaldy Ocon said the committee which he chairs would tackle Limketkai Sons Inc. chairman and chief executive officer Albino Lim’s request for the city council to interpose no objection and endorse the firm’s application with the Philippine Amusement and Gaming Corp. for a franchise to operate a casino at Limketkai center. The committee also invited barangay chairpersons Pedro Arda of Camaman-an, Omar Labuntog of Lapasan, Modesto Ligtas of Barangay 35, and Alex dela Cerna of Barangay 26. Also invited were Integrated Bar of the Philippines chapter president Rey Raagas, Cagayan de Oro Chamber of Commerce and Industry president Robertino Pizarro, and Cagayan de Oro Press Club president Msgr. Elmer Abacahin.
