Iligan City — Joint military and police operatives recovered and exhumed the skeletal remains of five individuals in a remote area of Barangay Dilimbayan, Maguing, Lanao del Sur on May 11.

The operation was conducted by troops from the 55th Infantry Battalion in coordination with the Maguing Municipal Police Station and Scene of the Crime Operatives of the Lanao del Sur Police Provincial Office.

Authorities said the recovery operation was launched after residents reported the presence of human remains believed to have been buried in the area for a long period.

The joint team conducted excavation, documentation, and forensic procedures before transporting the remains to Francfort Public Cemetery in Amai Manabilang, Lanao del Sur for proper burial.

Authorities urged families of missing persons and individuals with relevant information to coordinate with the nearest police station or military camp to assist in the identification and investigation process.
