THIRTY-seven former New People’s Army (NPA) rebels formally returned to mainstream society during a reintegration ceremony on January 10 at Camp Osito D. Bahian in Barangay Impalambong, Bukidnon.
The event was led by Brigadier General Michele B. Anayron Jr., commander of the 403rd Infantry Brigade.
Anayron presented the former rebels to the media and local officials, expressing his support for their reintegration.
“We commend you for choosing peace. This is the start of your transformation. The troops and local authorities will support you in building a better future for yourselves and your families,” Anayron said during the ceremony.
A former rebel, interviewed during the event, thanked Anayron and praised the leadership of Major General Jose Maria Cuerpo II of the 4th Infantry Division for promoting peace in the region.
Recovered weapons, including an M60 caliber machine gun, 51 high-powered firearms, and four low-powered firearms, were also presented during the event.
Anayron later met privately with the former rebels to discuss livelihood programs, employment, and educational support for their families.
Speaking on behalf of Cuerpo, Brigadier General Consolito P. Yecla underscored the success of peacebuilding efforts and the government’s Enhanced Comprehensive Local Integration Program (E-clip).
“This success demonstrates our commitment to ensuring a peaceful and prosperous future for former rebels,” Yecla said.
Through E-clip, the government offers livelihood assistance and reintegration support, urging other insurgents to surrender and embrace peace.
