THIRTY-FIVE members of Tudela municipal police station in Misamis Occidental, have been placed under a two-week mandatory quarantine since yesterday, a day after positive test result of Covid-19 on a female nurse came.
Police provincial director Col. Danildo Tumanda, in his report to Camp Alagar, said that the removal of law enforcers from quarantine control points, from their stations, and isolate them for 14 days are preventive measures against the virus.
“After careful contact tracing and upon recommendation of the provincial government, members of Tudela MPS were removed from the frontlines,” said Tumanda.
All the 35 law enforcers were brought yesterday to a tourist resort that was converted overnight into an isolation facility.
Tumanda said Tudela police personnel have had direct contacts with the two Covid-19-infected persons, a 47-year old health worker as well as a sexagenarian she took care of, who died in his sleep two weeks ago.
“Our conservative approach, of temporarily restricting our personnel from work, is to quickly identify early symptoms from them, thus protecting their families and the public in general from transmissions,” Tumanda said.
With this, a turnover of command was held and installed police Capt. Alibsar Deraba as officer-in-charge chief of police of Tudela.
At the same time, elements of the 2nd Provincial Mobile Force were reassigned to Tudela MPS, in place of organic personnel, for at least two weeks.
Tumanda assured the public that the police will always be at the forefront against the threats of the health pandemic. (Uriel C. Quilinguing)
