By DAVE ACHONDO Desk Editor EXPECT 23 hours of blackouts in Cagayan de Oro this weekend. The Cagayan Electric Power and Light Co., Inc. (Cepalco) has announced an 11-hour blackout tomorrow, and another 12-hour power interruption on Sunday in some parts of this city. The National Grid Corp. of the Philippines (NGCP) informed Cepalco that it would be facilitating the shutdown of a 75-mva power transformer at their Opol substation because of rectification works on a deluge water spray and correction works of its 69kv droplines. To make use of the time, Cepalco said it would conduct line maintenance works on Suniel St., Carmen, and a conductor stringing of a 69kv Kauswagan-Puntod line at Capisnon crossing towards Kauswagan to Bonbon. The blackout is expected to start from 7 am to 6 pm affecting the greater portions of Kauswagan and all of Bayabas and Bonbon. Five hours of power interruptions would also be experienced from 7 am to 12 nn and again at 5:30 am to 6 pm (30 minutes) in major parts of Barangay Carmen. Barangays Patag, Bulua, city proper and all of Macanhan and lower Balulang would only experience a 30 minutes blackout from 7 am to 7:30 am and again at 5:30 pm to 6 pm. On Sunday, a 12-hour blackout is expected to hit Gusa, Lapasan and Camaman-an from 6 am to 6 pm due to a request by the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) for Cepalco to facilitate a pole structure revision in order to give way to the ongoing pedestrian overpass project at the Capitol University Medical City (CUMC) in Gusa. To make use of the time, Cepalco said it would facilitate a line conductor stringing works of its 69 kv Tablon-Puntod line along Lapasan highway. A hour and 30-minute blackout power switching is expected in some parts of Agora in Lapasan and Indahag from 6 am to 7:30 am and again at 4:30 pm to 6 pm.
