CAGAYAN DE ORO CITY — Eleven municipalities in Maguindanao del Sur have received a total of P60 million in financial assistance to help communities recover from the widespread flooding in October 2025.
The funds were released under the Tugon ng Pangulo Special Financial Assistance Program, designed to accelerate recovery after heavy rains brought by the Intertropical Convergence Zone.
The Office of the Special Assistant to the President, led by Antonio F. Lagdameo Jr., facilitated the turnover on Feb. 25 in Davao City.
“We are committed to ensuring that assistance reaches communities as quickly as possible so they can start rebuilding and restoring normalcy,” Lagdameo said.
Mayors of the affected towns personally received their respective checks. Beneficiaries include Buluan, Datu Salibo, Datu Saudi Ampatuan, Mangudadatu, Pagalungan, Paglat, Rajah Buayan, Gen. S.K.
Pendatun, Sultan sa Barongis, and Shariff Saydona Mustapha. The municipality of Datu Montawal received a separate allocation of P10 million.
Local governments may use the funds to directly aid flood victims and rehabilitate damaged infrastructure.
The assistance comes after a formal request from Esmael ‘Toto’ Mangudadatu for immediate support for the hard-hit municipalities.
The Tugon ng Pangulo program is part of the Marcos administration’s “Bagong Pilipinas” agenda, providing rapid financial aid to local governments affected by calamities.
